Abbott’s pharmaceuticals  business is focused on helping people live healthier lives by bringing the benefits of trusted, affordable medicine to people in fast-growing emerging markets.

We work to understand the needs of people, doctors and pharmacists and link these with available technology to make medicines better. We look at the best technology and science, new ways of using existing medicines, new delivery methods, new dosage combinations, new indications or digital solutions that improve patient adherence – and then apply them to existing off-patent medicine. This provides meaningful differentiation and a reason to choose our health solutions to both healthcare providers and the people who take our medicines.

We focus on six core therapeutic areas in which we have over1500 products, with strong brands and the ability to address health needs in more than 100 markets.

From our hub in Liffey Valley, our employees in Ireland support Abbott’s global pharmaceuticals business with roles in Quality, Regulatory, Innovation & Development, Operations, Finance and Marketing.

HISTORY

Our established pharmaceuticals business  opened a facility in Santry, North Dublin in July 2009 and moved to Liffey Valley Dublin in June 2016.  It was from this small organisation that the journey to branded generics started.
